At Hennessy Porsche, we know that you demand excellence in everything you do. That’s why we have done the work to ensure you know the differences between the popular Audi Q5 and our Porsche Macan, so you can get to grips with what each model has to offer before you make your final choice.

Engine and Performance

Under the hood, the Porsche Macan puts the Audi Q5 in its rearview mirror. The Macan comes standard with a 2.0-liter turbocharged engine delivering 261 horsepower and 295 pound-feet of torque through a performance-focused all-wheel drive system. Meanwhile, the Audi Q5 delivers just 201 horsepower and 221 pound-feet of torque from its four-pot turbo, making it a less engaging choice than the Porsche model. In addition, the Porsche Macan comes standard with adaptive suspension that allows for more comfort or sharper handling on command, while the Audi Q5 will have you paying extra for similar features. You can option a more-powerful engine into the Audi Q5 as well, matching the performance numbers of the Porsche Macan, but you still won’t get the engaging handling that has become a Porsche staple over the years.

Interior and Comfort

In the 2023 Porsche Macan, luxury is a part of the standard kit. With standard heated and ventilated seats, the Macan provides a high level of luxury no matter which model you decide to take home. While the Audi Q5 has heated seats as standard, the cooling you want for those steamy summer months is only available on top trims and still comes as an optional extra when you get there. Meanwhile, the Porsche Macan comes standard with premium leather and optional Alcantara upholstery, while the Audi only offers leather and cloth options for your seat coverings. The seats themselves are quite similar, with each offering 21-way power adjustability and two save slots to store your favorite settings or share driving duties with ease.

As for cabin space, this is one area where the Audi Q5 does have the edge, offering 25 cubic feet of space compared to 18 cubes in the Porsche Macan. However, in the Q5 Sportback models, you get just 19 cubic feet of space, putting it in the same league as the Macan if it’s the sportier Q5 model you’re looking for.

Technology

Technology adds convenience to your driving experience, and the 2023 Porsche Macan pulls away from the Audi Q5 where tech is concerned. Both have standard Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity, keyless entry and start, and parking assistance, but the Macan offers a few more standard features that the Q5 makes optional. In the 2023 Porsche Macan, you’ll get both built-in navigation and satellite radio as standard, with live traffic and weather updates along your route and voice-activated navigation that makes it easy to find your destinations. While the Audi Q5 offers this same tech, it’s not standard on every model, so you’ll have to pay for a higher trim level to get these features on your daily drive.

Safety

In 2023, both the Porsche Macan and Audi Q5 come standard with a wealth of driver assistance features. You’ll get forward collision warning, automatic emergency braking, and pedestrian detection with both models, so you can expect a high baseline of added safety tech no matter which of these premium SUVs you take home. You can also equip both the Macan and Q5 with adaptive cruise control, lane keep assist, and surround-view cameras as optional extras, though they will cost a bit more on the Porsche model.
